The Center for Industrial Ecology (CIE) provides an organizational focus for research in industrial ecology. The Center brings together Yale staff, students, visiting scholars, and practitioners to develop new knowledge at the forefront of the field. Research is carried out in collaboration with other segments of the Yale community, with other academic institutions, and with international partners in Austria, China, Switzerland, and elsewhere. Faculty research interests include the theoretical basis of industrial ecology, the cycles of materials, technological change and the environment, eco-industrial urban development, industrial symbiosis, and product and producer policy issues.

The Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy seeks to advance fresh thinking and analytically rigorous approaches to environmental decisionmaking – across disciplines, across sectors, and across boundaries. The Center’s objectives include:
- Be a leading resource for the development of next-generation environmental law and policy;
- Train future environmental leaders by encouraging innovative thinking and rigorous analysis;
- Identify pressing environmental problems and advance effective policies, strategies, and decision tools in response;
- Move the environmental debate beyond political and sectoral boundaries to enable integrated approaches to problem-solving;
- Identify scientific and technological advances that can ease uncertainty and respond to the complexity of environmental protection;
- Seek a greater understanding of stakeholder attitudes, values, and behavior toward environmental policy choices and how these diverse perspectives affect policy outcomes.
Program on Social Enterprise

An initiative of the Yale School of Management, the Program on Social Enterprise (PSE) supports scholars, students and alumni interested in the connections between society and business. PSE supports work on nonprofit and public organizations as well as initiatives in the area of corporate social responsibility.
