Ryan is an Associate in the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) at Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), where he supports RMI's Cofounder and Chief Scientist, Amory B. Lovins, and the OCS team with research, analysis, and collaboration. He joined RMI in November 2016.
Previously, he led the design, implementation, and evaluation of the world’s first university-based internal carbon pricing program at Yale University. Ryan's professional background is in environmental economics, climate policy, and energy efficiency and data analytics. As a student at Yale, Ryan studied glacial erosion in the Patagonian Andes and captained the varsity men’s cross country team.
Ryan is interested in using market-based mechanisms and new business models to drive cleaner generation and the efficient use of energy. Creating new ideas, bringing people together, and crunching numbers that add up to something bigger are times when he's at his best.
