Profile
Joe Schiavo is a joint Master of Environmental Science (MESc) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) candidate at Yale University. He is interested in the economics and finance of energy project development, technology innovation, and market strategy in the energy industry.

As part of Yale’s Environmental and Natural Resource Economics Group, Joe’s research is focused on the economics of transitioning coal-fired power plants to burn natural gas, with a particular interest in air pollution impacts and industrial organization. Joe served on CBEY’s Renewable Thermal Technologies team and is a contributing writer at the Clean Energy Finance Forum.

Prior to his work at Yale, Joe advised Fortune 500 companies in areas of business strategy, big data and analytics, and operations as a Senior Consultant in IBM’s Global Business Services unit. Joe is an active inventor and was awarded an IBM Invention Achievement Award in 2014. His previous work experience includes positions in Citigroup’s Institutional Clients Group and the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) at Sciences-Po Paris.

Joe holds a BA in International Studies from Vassar College (Phi Beta Kappa).
