As Director of Morgan Stanley's Office of the Environment, Jim Butcher is responsible for coordinating internal efforts and engaging with external stakeholders and working with clients on the environment.  This presentation will explore challenges and opportunities being pursued by Mr. Butcher to implement a broad environmental agenda within Morgan Stanley.  From sustainable development and environmental risk management to climate change and markets and investment, Mr. Butcher will describe the various business dimensions the environment presents to an investment bank.

Jim has worked with various clients across industry sectors in crafting their environmental strategies and led a two-year national task force under the Clinton Administration for a more sustainable U.S. national energy plan.  Prior to Morgan Stanley, he was a senior principal with the Global Business Network (GBN), a manager with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and earlier, a program officer with the Ford Foundation, directing their global environmental program among ten field offices.  Over the last sixteen years, he has worked with over sixty corporate clients in the United States, Latin America, Asia and Europe.
