Investing in Climate Change - A Panel on Hedge Funds

Climate change may be the most important issue of our time, and has taken center stage at the World Economic Forum and most recently at the UNFCC conference in Bali. Climate change is altering the way that investors evaluate the risks inherent in a wide variety of industries including oil and gas, utilities, transportation, chemicals and others.

Connecticut Hedge Fund Association together with the Center for Business and the Environment at Yale, Connecticut Departments of Environmental Protection, Insurance, Treasury, and Clean Air - Cool Planet have organized a winter educational symposium of insurance and investment management leaders to explore risks and opportunities in "Investing in Climate Change" as well as a discussion of the new Green Exchange trading platform established by a NYMEX-led consortium of leading financial institutions. 

Welcoming remarks will be given by Thomas R. Sullivan, the Commissioner of the Insurance Department for the State of Connecticut.  Win Neuger, Chairman of the AIG Global Investment Group, will give a keynote address.  This address will be followed by dinner and a panel discussion on the new Green Exchange that will be moderated by the Co-Director of the Center for Business and the Environment at Yale, Brad Gentry.  Panelists include: Martin Whittaker, Director of Environmental Finance Strategies with Mission Point Capital, Andy Ertel, CEO of Evolution Markets, Benjamin Block, Senior Analyst for Ardsley Partners Renewable Energy Strategy, and Paul Ezekiel, Global Head of Carbon Trading for Credit Suisse.
