Investing in Forests and Lands: An Investor's Primer

Deborah Spalding, a Managing Partner of Working Lands Investment Partners, LLC, will provide an overview of what investors look for in deals to acquire forests and lands, from the structure of a transaction to risk-return expectations.

This presentation will provide a primer on forest and land investing.

Deborah has worked in the financial industry for more than 15 years serving in senior executive positions in the US and overseas. She was co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of Chaplin Global, LLC, an asset management firm in New York specializing in alternative investments. She has spoken at numerous conferences across the globe on the opportunities and risks in valuing investments in inefficient and emerging markets and economies.

She has been active in conservation and has served on several boards, including the National Wildlife Federation, where she serves as endowment trustee and chair of the retirement income plan, the Guilford Land Conservation Trust, and the International Center in New York, where she served as Secretary and Treasurer. Deborah also has an ongoing role at Yale University in strategic planning and special projects at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies.

Deborah holds an undergraduate degree from Tufts University, a Master's degree from Harvard University, an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Master of Forestry from Yale University. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Working Lands Investment Partners specializes in the investment and long term stewardship of sustainably managed working lands.
